FireKote

FireKote helps protect you and your family

Most homes burn to the ground in a matter of minutes because the fabric decor is highly flammable, such as curtains, sofas, carpets bedding etc. With this incredibly effective product sprayed onto your textiles, it cannot catch flame, in fact, it is self-extinguishing.

At last, an off-the-shelf flame retardant spray at reasonable prices.

We are registered with Fire Protection Association of South Africa membership credentials.

FireKote: Textile

Our FireKote: Textile product has been formulated to protect any fabric from retaining flames. The product provides peace of mind because even if the fabric comes into contact with a flame it will not retain the flame or allow the fabric to become fuel for that fire.
After quite a few experiments done in our labs we have found that during the period when flames are applied directly to the fabric it may turn black and appear to be burning but the moment that flame is extinguished you will find that the fabric is perfectly in tact...

Another wonderful fact about our product is that it contains no hazardous chemicals that turn to dangerous toxic smoke when flame is applied to it. In other words, our FireKote: Textile is 100% safe, eco-friendly and VOC free.

You can spray it on, you can brush it on or even dunk the fabric into the liquid. So long as the fabric is fully soaked any of these methods are acceptable.

FIREKOTE WOOD - FIRE TEST

Recently a customer of ours got in touch with us to see if we could provide a flame retardant product for their decorative wicker baskets.
We happily coated a couple baskets for them to do a fire test with... the results speak for themselves.
Watch the video on the left to see just how impressive the product is when put to the test with an open flame.

HOW TO RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE

There are 3 easy steps on how to get yourself a certificate to say you have Fire Retarded a piece of fabric/textile.

Step 1:
Take a video whilst you are soaking the fabric in the FireKote.
*And when we say soak your fabric we mean the textile should be saturated completely with the liquid otherwise it will not be classified as 'fire retarded'.

Step 2:
Send the video through to the Kote Team and we will evaluate if you have applied the product correctly.

Step 3:
If the FireKote has been applied properly you will be emailed a PDF of a signed copy of a certificate to say you have applied the product correctly.

If in the event you have not applied the product to the satisfaction of the assessor then you will need to reapply the product to ensure it is done correctly.

FireKote Demo: Soaking Application

In the video above we show you one of the best ways to apply our FireKote.
This process is easier to manage and is best used for large amounts of fabric or textile that needs to be coated.

FireKote Demo: Brushing Application

In the video above we show you one of the other ways to apply our FireKote.
This method is best suited for smaller pieces of textile that requires only small amounts of the FireKote product.

FireKote - Textile Flame Protection Coating

TEXTILE FIRE RETARDANT

FireKote has been used in various locations. From curtains in bed and breakfast resorts to aircraft seating... any sort of textile fabric that you think could use a little extra protection.

The spread rate is 3m squared to 1 litre, but this all depends on the absorption of the fabric you are trying to protect. Be sure not to under estimate the amount you will need, and the best part is that if you have any product left over you can keep it on the shelf for long periods for when you need it again later.

Easy to apply, simply spray on or dip or use a paint brush to apply and leave somewhere warm and dry to dry off.

Remember, this is not a permanent coating. If you get the cloth that you have coated wet then you will need to apply another coat to it.
